1949 GMC engine ID help!!!

I just aquired a 1949 GMC 1 1/2 ton pickup. I tried decoding the engine block numbers and came up empty handed. Anyone know what this might have come out of?

It's an inline 6 and has GMC stamped into the valve cover.

Thanks!

I learned yesterday that on GMC the first three digits are the engine size. You have a 270. Can't help with the rest.

Thank you. According to the info I found out for my VIN # it says I should have a 248 inline 6. The 270 was available in 1949 so I guess, even if it had been replaced, it's a "numbers matching" truck.

I'm still curious if this is the original engine or not. I will keep looking and if anyone has any other places to check I would appreciate the help.
