255 or 265's on 15's....

So I am about to pull the trigger on a much needed new set of tires for my 78 lwb/ 1/2 ton. Currently it has what I believe to be factory ralleys...15 X8 and 15X7's...I am going with 295's on the rear and can not make up my mind whether to go with 255/60's or 265/50's up front. I don't want the front end riding high....but I also don't want too short of a sidewall...I would prefer a complimentary size to the 295's...I read elsewhere that the 265's shorter sidewall looked funny....

Any thoughts?

If you're set on the 295/50's on 8" wheels out back, 265/50's would yield similar look on 7" fronts. Keep in mind those are short compared to OE sizes (that help fill the wheel well up).

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Are you sure you have 7's and 8's!
Look like 6.5's and 7's to me.

A 265 on a 7 inch wheel will probably wear the middle of the tread unless you keep the pressure down. Probably not a big deal since I see so many newer trucks with uneven wear on the tires. I have always been a stickler for even tire wear.

on my 87 I ran 235/70/15 (15x7 rallies) up front, and 275/60/15 (15x8 rallies) in the rear
