Mike and Jeff, how 'bout some updates...

Mike - So you bought the 79 and then never said anything about it. Have you had to do anything to it? Are you ever going to post some engine and interior pics? Inquiring minds want to know!

Jeff - How about your Blazer. At first you said you were going to drive it for a while and then sell it. Have you fallen in love with it or not? Have you had to do anything to it?

You guys are probably going to raz me for info on MY projects too so I'll give it in advance.

I'm still working on bodywork and painting the stepside bed for my 87 and right now have the rear diff torn down to parade rest. (Amazing how much quicker it went than the 12 bolt in my 84. I did in 2 hours what took me two weeks in that one. It's nice to have some experience and the tools I made / bought for the last one...)

I recently dropped one of the gas tanks on my 84 that had a clogged pickup sock and rebuilt the carb. It's like a different truck being able to use both tanks again and the carb rebuild gained me about 4 mpg. (Up to 15 again!)

I haven't done much to my Gentleman Jim or the Indy Hauler but both need engine work and front suspension rebuilds before I start making them look good. I have gained more parts for them though...

I have also spent some time making my 83 Dually reliable. I replaced the water pump, radiator, belts and hoses, fixed the A/C, and generally just cleaned it up. My uncle just drove it 5000 miles to Michigan and back to pick up a 79 Firebird Formula 400 4 speed and had no problems. It made 9 mpg with the truck, trailer, car, an extra olds 403 and 4 new Wurlitzer Jukeboxes so I guess I won't complain.

Give us an update!

Joe,

I havent done too much to the Woody except I purchased a factory spare tire holder from Crossy, I bought a factory red spare tire cover off E-bay, Tommy got my missing ashtray, installed my old tach from Yeller, put on two near mint headlight bezels and two perfect tail light lenses, and took a few more pics.

I only plan on keeping it until I finish Yeller, then it goes up for sale or I trade Chris for a 2WD lwb 1/2 or 3/4 ton. I am currently looking for a right fender (too cheap to pay GM prices still), and a LR lower quarter panel patch (behind the wheel well).

Other than that I have just been driving it and enjoying V8 power once again.

Here are a couple new pics.

Joe,

to tell you the truth, I think I've drove the Big 10 maybe 4 times since I bought it. The wife has drove it more than me. Of course she don't like it because she says it uses too much gas. Hey, it is a 350, in a truck, what did you expect, V6 fuel injected mileage? It just sits in the drive mostly. Looks sort of lonesome. Between me driving the van for work every day and then driving the 85 when I have a chance, the 79 just sits. Poor thing.

The 79 is nothing special. It has it's faults like any old truck. Some rust in places, more than I first knew about, but this is fine. It will do what I want to anyway. I really should have bought her a newer truck, but my hearts set on 73-87 bodystyles. The AC don't cool. Don't know what is wrong with it. Of course the wife hates this. Blows her hair too much to drive with the windows down don't you know.

I'll get some pics when I get a chance. Been pretty busy lately. Thanks for asking Joe.

Hey Mike, just tell her to open the vents under the dash (at the bottom of it, there are two levers that you pull towards you and it opens a plunger that goes into the engine compartment) It provides a massive amount of airflow, without messing up your hair, lol

Lynx, you are correct...that was only on non-AC trucks.

I have a non A/C truck and I love those little vents down there.
I call them the dual climate control system
When its hot the vents dont do sh*t but blow hot air around the cab. But in the winter you can cruise with the windows down and the vents open and its great. I can not wait till it cools down!!!

NICE!

Jeff,

you need to get off that 73-80 kick you are on. If I didn't know better, I'd think you didn't like 81-87's.

Mike, I have nothing againt 81-87's, I just like the looks of a 73-80 much more. They look better IMO because of the round lights and luss "busy" front ends, not to mention less junk under the hood and the earlier models didn't have cats. Here is a pic of my old 82 just to prove you wrong. .

Once you're ready to sell it, would it be too difficult to ship it to Finland?
