Radio Antenna posistion

I bough a "supposedly" correct radio antenna from LMC. It was described at a 60-61 (Part number 38-1146). After mounting it to the cowl it sits at a bad angle. AT first I though I had a Prev. Owner drilled hole - I have a factory cut hole as it has the small square notched out.

I paid $90.00 for it in a moment of mental weakness. I've tried everything I can think of to try to get it to position vertically. Anybody else run into this problem?

Re: Radio Antenna posistion

I have a factory template that I can copy and send you. I may have the numbers wrote down. Just encountered this myself a few weeks back. Had an antennae that looked original. Was installed sometime before I got the truck but whoever did the install had the hole in the wrong location.

Re: Radio Antenna posistion

Heres a couple pics of mine installed using a factory template for reference. I choose to stay on the driver side as the previous one was mounted, but the factory install was on the passenger side.

Re: Radio Antenna posistion

Great thread on the factory antenneas and locations. I can get my template copied and mailed off Monday to you if needed.

The thread also shows a factory 60-62 antennae thanks to member 60-66 for comparison

Re: Radio Antenna posistion

I don't have any options to move the antenna. The hole was drilled or punched by the factory or dealer. I need to find an antenna I think. Goofy iPad photo alignment

Re: Radio Antenna posistion

I used the template supplied with my antenna from GM and the antenna leans towards the outside.

Re: Radio Antenna posistion

When I bought my truck it had a hole in the same general area. I tried multiple antennas to get it to line-up straight. I finally ended up with a solid mast universal antenna and bent the mast at the base for vertical. Now that I am redoing the truck I got a "new" cowl extension and moved the antenna to the "correct" spot and used a "repo" antenna. Sorry I have no pictures now might be able to get one of the old cowl.
