New exhaust system
To finish up my disc brake/lowering job, I made a trip to the muffler shop yesterday. Got Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers, which seem to be a little quieter than Flowmasters. They're a darn site quieter than the cheap glass packs that were on the truck. They have a good sound, but I now cannot set off car alarms when I start the truck. I'm gonna miss that trick! However, I can now hear my radio without cranking the volume to the top.

American Muffler at Mt Vernon & Oliver. www.american-muffler.com They are the place to go in Wichita for custom exhaust work. I'm planning on going to Ark City on Saturday, just hope I can work it into my schedule.

That's what I have heard from another board member. What size pipe did you go with, x or h-pipe, did you get a good deal?

2-1/2" duals, no x or h aluminized with lifetime warranty. Just under $400, took them 2 hours to put it in. I don't know if that's a good deal or not, I needed it done and knew I could trust them.

I've got a set of Dynomax Super Turbos on a car and love them. According to the propaganda I have seen they flow better than Flowmasters too.

Good choice on the muffs. Dynomax super turbos are pretty good mufflers IMO. A bit quiet for my taste, but they have a nice rumble too them that isn't too annoying at all. They let everyone know you have a V8 without being too loud.
Setting off car alarms is great.....especailly with the rumble with my flowmasters. I set off a alarm almost everytime i drive my truck

Setting of car alarms is fun, but that exhaust system was the pits. PO put it in, he is a redneck from western Oklahoma, lives way out in the sticks. Gas welded the exhaust, glass packs under the cab, and from there back to the rear bumper was six different pieces welded in on each side. Ran it over the differential directly under the frame. After dropping down from the axle, he used some thin wall tubing that went into 4 x 10 expansion tips. The entire system was suspended with 1/4" plate welded onto the pipe and bolted directly to the frame. It was not only louder than the devil, it resonated back through the truck.
My favorite alarm trigger was in an almost empty lot. I had pulled in parallel to a car that was six stalls down. When I started the beast, his alarm went off. Had a friend with me who laughed and said do that trick again. So I backed a few feet from the side of the car and power-braked until the alarm went off. Then my foot slipped off the brake and I shed some rubber.
