Nose to frame mount, what should be there?

Today I celebrated Father's Day by replacing the cab mounts on my truck. That project was pretty straight forward, though I do have some adjustments to make to the clutch linkage and a couple other minor things to make up for the fact that the cab sits a bit lower with the new mounts.

What I discovered during the disassembly process is that there was very little holding the nose of the truck to the frame. Both mounts have delaminated, and while the drivers side was held somewhat together by a through bolt, the only thing holding the passenger side mount on was the bolt through to the sheet metal.

What I'm discovering is, with these new cab mounts, those old nose mounts no longer line up, at least where the through bolts go. I assume the through bolts were a repair by the PO and now how they came from the factory.

All this typing and all these pictures lead to this question; what exactly should be in those mounts? The instructions for the cab mounts only mention counting and retaining shims, but the mounts themselves had some rather thick rubber bushings that no longer seem feasible with the new cab mounts.

Are those poly mounts? I just ordered some. Yet to put them on.

this is what they look like. Removed from 66 c10 rubber goes top and bottom of core support and backed up with thick washers.

That is what was in there. The PO must have had some issues with this because there was an extra 1/4" or so rubber spacer in the front mount stacks.

Re: Nose to frame mount, what should be there?

That part you have laying on the ground used to be spot welded to the support. The sheet metal they attach to rust out on a lot of these trucks. If you look at 1963c-10's pics you can see what the sheet metal used to look like and compare that to yours to see what is missing. Hopefully some one has a support out and can post a picture of what it looked like originally.

Re: Nose to frame mount, what should be there?

I'm about 99% sure I have a core support mount that I can take off my donor frame.

The driver's side equivalent of what I pictured laying on the ground appears to be bonded - like a motor mount - to a bracket that is riveted to the the frame. The truck is a K10, if that matters with how this stuff goes together. The bushings that were in there were thicker than what is pictured above. I think the PO was trying to do some sort of body lift, or at least tip the cab back a little bit. Probably to clear the HEI which I'm sure my firewall is not clearing right now.

Re: Nose to frame mount, what should be there?

My core mount kit arrived from LMC yesterday. Either something is different with how the cabs are mounted with the 4x4s, or someone installed a small body lift at some point in my truck's history. The rubber bushes are much thinner than what I removed and the bolts are much smaller.

The metal bracket on the right will be reused, and bolted back where it was.

This is what I ended up with, which works. The metal piece in the original amount above was bonded to a bracket that is riveted to the frame, like a tranny mount. This side came off completely, while the other side was sort of hanging on by a thread. I through bolted both and that seems to have solved the issue, for now at least.
