Paint codes!

Hey guys. I've got a bad clear coat spot on my driver door that I'm fixing soon, just don't know the paint codes. Previous owner got it painted years ago, but removed the paint codes on the door. See if you all can help out, thanks in advance!

Re: Paint codes!

Trucks in the transmission shop now, supposed to be finished tomorrow. I will take some fresh pics in the sun, and post them! List in the glovebox says saddle tan / brown? I think, cannot remember. Only 1 is listed though. Thanks for the fast reply

Re: Paint codes!

Pics are not showing up for me.

Depending on what year your truck is - you don't have bad clearcoat. Square bodies were high solid enamel paint (single stage) until up to the very last. Probably a delamination of the top coat (color).

Base coat/clear coat was introduced on squares around the 1988 model year.

Post a copy of the SPID label and we can tell which paint scheme was original (ZY5, for example) and what the codes are (ie, 66U Indian Bronze Metallic and 61L Doeskin Tan).

Re: Paint codes!

My truck was painted 10 years ago by the previous owner. I'll get back to you once I get my truck back.

Re: Paint codes!

Did he happen to say if he had it redone in bc/cc or enamel?

My truck was originally high solid enamel but I did bc/cc when I redid it back in 2009, in an attempt to get more depth and more durability.

The paint shop was able to take the original Code 72U Apple Red WA7475 and purchase it in a bc/cc formulation.

Re: Paint codes!

Well after looking inside the glovebox, I think I found it. Before I was just seeing 1 number but now I see 66 & 61.

Heres some pictures. I got the truck back yesterday, and she drives amazing. So nice to have reverse back! Fully built 350 all new gears and seals and a shift kit, labor and parts $900.
