Need a measurement please...

The PO smoothed out my firewall and I want to get my Vintage air unit fit checked. I don't know exactly where to start cutting the holes needed at but I think if I can get the measurement of this one hole in the pic circled in blue I can figure the rest out based on the template Vintage air gives you. I have no inner fenders or anything on the front end right now, so if someone would be so kind to get this measurement and a good spot to reference it from I would be most grateful.

I have a 66 Chevy C10. I think Chevy and GMC should be the same as well as burbs. Unfortunately I think 60-63 is different than 64-66 regarding where that hole is. I don't know why that stencil I posted says 60-66 on it from Vintage air, as I looked at the directions for the 60-63 and that stencil is different.

I don't know if your stuck on using the Vintage Air plastic part but this is what I did with bulkhead fittings.

Man! I love that b/h setup--so pretty and neat. [PS: Does it take long to pour a qt of trans fluid thru that flexible fill-tube? Always tho't they were neat, but wondered about pour-speed.]

I actually have that same, or similar, bulkhead I was going to use. I'm not to sure about what hoses I need to use on the backside though since I don't think the stock ones will work? I was going to at least try to get the big hole cut in the stock location but I guess I will just try to find a truck local and go measure it myself.

Have you figured it out yet? I am in the process of installing a vintage air in my 63. I am in Fremont, so we are close. It may not be a perfect match, but it might be enough to figure it out. And after looking at some of your posts...I'd love to see your truck! That thing looks sweet!

If you don't get the measurement by someone else, I can get them tonight as my '65 doesn't have the heater installed at the moment.

DLW, u may be determined to use the above type bulkhead with the nice fittings; it is really pretty but practically I see it creating 8 possible leak sources that could be eliminated.

Here is an alternative we recently put on a '66 that I think looks pretty nice while eliminating 8 firewall fittings where leaks could occur. This is the 1st time we have tried this technique, but I think it worked out quite well. Plus, you do not have to be so precise in cutting & drilling holes--just center the plate, & be sure you leave room for a couple of sheet metal screws. It then enables hoses threaded thru to the inside to be easily manipulated & routed as needed.

Thanks for that info Sam. Do you have any more pics of the inside of your truck hook ups? it does look nice and clean.

My plan was to use the original panel that comes with the Vintage air system, I think it uses two O-ring style fittings for AC and two clamp fittings for heater, but I'm not sure on that.

The reason I need that top hole measurement so bad is that hole is used for hanging the vintage air evap case inside the truck. If I get the top hole measurement, then I know where to drill the bottom hole also used to hang the evap. I didn't think it would be so hard to come up with that measurement, but here I am a year later, lol. I'm sure I could come up with something, but I would like to make sure I use the drill once technique.

I kick myself in the rear for not seeing this from the start.
I used blown240's measurements (thanks man), and used the 60-63 template.
It puts the wholes I need in the same place as the 64-66 template, so I'm good.
Maybe this tread will help someone else down the road

No worries chevy_mike, I got it sorted out and have the evap hanging in there now.
I decided to go with this firewall bulkhead https://www.iimuch.com/collections/a...ant=1296491376, hoses pass through and no connectors to deal with, so 8 less connectors overall.
