my 1968 chopped top
It's not a lot to look at now, but it is a work in progress, and I am proud of it. I had some better pictures, but I can't find them, so these will have to do. Sorry there not that great.

I always wondered with you guys. Do you ever crack your head as you are getting in your truck. I have hit my head jumping into my stock cab, and it hurts.

That is the perfect chop for our trucks. Some guys I think tend to go too far, but that is dead on. Did you have new glass made?

This one is a 5 inch chop, and yeah being 6' 3" doesn't make it any easier getting in and out. Good eye, that was a 50th setting in the back ground, I believe that it was just sold for 4 hundred dollars though.

The height of the rear glass tossed me a curve
It looks like you dropped the lower pinchweld , to run a little more glass.....is the rear window stock? I have a few shots of a 4" chop, with layed pillars on my longhorn.... http://community.webshots.com/user/hotrodhorn i have seen 4 or 5 different methods of chopping the 67-72.....anyway you cut them, they are slick as he!! I bet that is a little tough at the stoplights......I am 5' 9", and stop a lenght or so back to see the light without twisting my neck sideways! crazyL

shaved question
hey bud nice lookin project you got there.i have a few questions for ya,first did you put in any acutators to open the doors or what and if so what kit?i have shaved everything in my truck as well,markers,handles,bed stake pockets and gas tank hole,im thinking of trying the hood next since it has a small bow in the middle anyways i figure why not also wanna do the cowl too.....ohh and by the way welcome to the board...Steve

Yes, I do have high back Jazz plastic buckets. I am sure that the lenght of the 2 trucks makes a diff how short they look....that longhorn is loooonng! Take a look at the rear glass.....thats the one that made me do a doubletake
My method of chop shortens the rear glass, & probably makes the top look shorter. Leaving the stock height rear glass in a chop , tends to make the eyes "look" a little more to see what is different, as the proportions are closer to stock.......a very slick trick , I will add A custom is a beauty, any way you "slice em"! You can take the man out of hotrods......but you cant take the hotrod out of the man.....it goes deeper than "blood"(explain that one to the wives tho:p ) its good to see some guys that arent opposed to the smoothed , custom side of trucks. Nice ride, crazyL

I am in San Diego, in the navy, but my truck is in Gilmer. Do you go to the Chicken run often? If so you may know my parents, they are always there. My dad, Kenny knight has a 69 or 70 green swb. Really clean. My mom, Delores, drives a really clean red 74 Vette. They will be there this week. I wiould like to be, but it is hard to get away.

I don't like correcting folks and do my best not too, but Kenny's truck (chevyman) is a '69 and Delores' 'Vette is an '81.
The "Chop Top" is a pretty sweet ride, with a little elbow grease, it will be a show stopper. Can't wait till your back to our neck of the woods. See ya soon.
