can I replace my 283 with a 350 and keep my powerglide?
Are there any modifications?
Is it a bolt in and go? Will starter work? I'm getting a lot of white smoke and blow by so I'm guessing the 283 needs a good rebuilding and I have a fresh 350 sitting here collecting dust. |

I used to have a 350 in my 65 Sub hooked to a Piwerglide. No problems hooking the 2 together. Im now running a 283/TH350 combo. My original engine was a 292. Hope this helps

That will work just fine. Chevy small blocks share the same dimensions and bolt patterns for bell housing/transmission, crossmember, motor mounts, etc. It's a beautiful thing!

I have been noticing a huge puddle of trans fluid after I drive, I'm guessing the front trans seal is gone. Since I'm changing the motor out, I guess it's a good time to change the trans shaft seal. |

You will have a few minor changes installing a TH350. Most likely the oil from your PG is because the torque converter drains down when the truck sits and the oil from the torque converter overfills the trans and burps out where it can. There is a anti burp valve for these but they don't always work as they should.
