305 V6 flex plate ?
Happy 4th my fellow Americans! I want to swap the 3 speed std in my 63 gmc with a 700r4 that I have. Before I tear it all apart what will I need for a flex plate? What are the chances a sbc 305 flex plate would work? Anyone have any knowledge on the big V6? Thanks.

You will need a GMC specific automatic adapter. They can be found, but if it's the overdrive gear you wish, then consider adapting a more modern manual transmission. Here is another photo of the adapter should you decide to go that route. Info from the Jolly 6066 page http://6066gmcguy.com/SM420.html

Re: 305 V6 flex plate ?
Ok So the 700r4 won't physically bolt up to the V6 block without the adapter? I read elsewhere that it would...I'm assuming that I would need a special flex plate or adapter for the converter, so swapping the 3 speed for the 700r4 is out of reach for today....the only reason I'm using the 700r4 is because I happen to have one lying around..it will eventually get an ls swap so i'll have to put up with the 3 speed till then...another question. ..since I swapped over to front disc's will the single master cylinder be enough? I thought of doing a wilwood master cyl. But the truck has a hydraulic clutch.

Here are a few links in regards to adapting a chevy flywheel and the brake issue.
