New guy here!!

Just joined up!

Finished building a 61 impala 2 door post with a 409. So I was looking for a truck and found a 54 3 window. The guy brought it home 20 years ago, tore it apart and then left it. The cab is in good shape, need a couple patch panels done and the frame is very good.

I will get some pics up soon. I know I will have lots of questions for the experts on here.

Gary

Re: New guy here!!

Welcome, I'm a new guy as well. I've learned quite a bit by lurking and reading build threads. This place is a wealth of information.

Re: New guy here!!

Thanks guys.

alaska gasser, I'm also on the 348-409 site and I've seen you truck build over there.

I have a 67 Camaro front sub frame to put in my truck. I've searched and searched and can't find any good photos with measurements on installation.

Is there a template to follow or do guys just install sub frames there own way.

One of the best articles as far as preparing your frame for a suspension swap that I've seen is to google 55-59 chevy truck ifs conversion. It's by Hollister road something or other and gives a more precise way of tape measuring using split bolts inserted through the frame holes and also with a laser down the rails for straightness, these methods will work on your 53 as well.
I'm going with corvette suspension using flat out engineering components which seems to be the newest conversion craze. I saw the front cross member swap for the early trucks and it involves boxing the frame then cutting the other side of frame which sounds a little complex. Google it

Re: New guy here!!

Thanks solidaxel, K-W is about 1 1/2 hours from me.

Catus Patch sounds like a little old cowboy town, probably a neat place to live.
