My tranny pan

My 71 GMC Tranny was leaking a little. Got a filter & gasket set . Had trouble getting the two rear bolts out. Had to put a v slot in the tranny mount lip (two v slots) And jack up tranny just to get the pan out, Went to place gasket Wrong one ??? Went to part store & found out that I must have a 1975 TH350C. The pan has a thick lip to keep it straight. Also a little change in the pan bolt pattern. The 71 tranny mount might be a little difference from a 75 for clearance. Just waiting for a call to go & get new gasket.

Re: My tranny pan

I don't remember any difference in a TH350 - TH350C pan or gasket

Re: My tranny pan

Shouldn't be a difference in the 350 i don't think, they all had the 45* corner, the TH400 did not.

Re: My tranny pan

Yes there more than one th350 tranny pan. TF171 AC Delco part number. Their saying I have a 75 tranny.Dont know Buick,Olds, Pontiac Chevy , GMC????? Anyway got the new gasket in today. What a job with no clearance on the two rear bolts, Its got to be the tailshaft???
