4x4 wiring question
I have a 2010 5.3 with 6l80 and transfer case. The question is how do I setup the wiring for the transfer case since it is push button? I've asked venders that make harnesses for this type of engine/trans setup if they support the transfer case wiring and they don't. So it looks like I'm going to have to do it myself but don't have the foggiest as to how to wire it up. Does anyone know if there is some kind of computer involved or can I just wire it strait to a switch? any and all insight is welcomed. Thanks

Re: 4x4 wiring question
What are you trying to put it in?If its a older truck the t case is the wrong side drop unless you change the front axle to a ford.

Re: 4x4 wiring question
It's sitting on a s10 chassis. I'm not worried about fitting just function.

Re: 4x4 wiring question
If its the 2nd gen s10 you might be able to rig up the push button system to it .How many wires are on the plug to the t case ?

There is 8 pin plug from the shifter. 3 pin plug out the back of the transfer case and 2 pin plug on top of the transfer case

Re: 4x4 wiring question
I did some digging looks like both systems use a ecu and a ton of other stuff.I can find a wiring diagram for the s10 but can't find jack on a chevy truck newer then a 99 not sure if its different or not.

Re: 4x4 wiring question
is it push button or autotrac?
my recommendation would be to find a lever shifted case and use that. i dont have a clue how that all would be controlled. if the ECU does it then maybe you are in luck. if it is controlled through a different part of a body module or something it may be a pain. |

Re: 4x4 wiring question
This is a push button setup, that is what I'm going for on this build. From my understanding the push button is controlled by a TCCM (transfer case control module). I'm just looking for some insight into this so I can have the comfort in what I'm doing instead of just hoping it is going to work.

I ran into the same wall. I'm hoping I can find a shop that has some knowledge of this. I can't believe I'm the first to do this. |

Re: 4x4 wiring question
Most of us that have 4x4s hate any kinda push button system.A lot of people will swap it out to manual case with a shifter.I have had the push button system on a ford die on me no warning it got changed out fast lol.

Re: 4x4 wiring question
A wiring diagram for the vehicle the parts came from should tell the story...

Re: 4x4 wiring question
Any way you can swap in the s10 t case ?I know its a weaker case but unless you drive it like you stole it everything should be fine.
