68 C20 2wd front shock questions

I am going to install front shocks on my 68 C20 2wd and it looks like the shock just slides on the top shock mount and bolts to the bottom? Is that right? Am I looking at that right that there is nothing that holds the shock on the top pin?

There should be a nut on the top stud. The stud and nut are usually included with the shock.

Here's a picture of the stud kit for the top.

Edit: Added picture.

Re: 68 C20 2wd front shock questions

where did you get your shocks from? the shocks I bought didn't have the shock stud. also it almost looks like the outside nut is missing or broke off. I will have to take a closer look at the passenger side and see if it looks the same as the drivers side. The back half looks the same but I have nothing on the outside end to hold the shock from falling off!

Re: 68 C20 2wd front shock questions

The stud pictured is from a spare set of Rancho RS5120 shocks. Was there any other hardware packed with your shocks? If not, call them and tell them you think the mounting hardware may be missing. It was missing with one of the Ranchos and they mailed a bag with the parts.

EDIT: I just looked at the list of shocks on Rock Auto's website. Every front shock with a picture shows the hardware.

Re: 68 C20 2wd front shock questions

I opened the other shock box and the stud was there so I went back and got another new shock which had the parts in it. Thanks guys. I am not sure why the ones on thwre don't have a nut on them. When I get it apart I will take a picture of it.
