Dash brake light won't go off

I recently did a front disk brake upgrade on my 70 c10 and can't get the brake light to go off. I put a new proportion valve and master cylinder on as well. It took me a long time to get all the air out of the brake lines, and I am not sure I have all the air out yet. I tried the trick of pressing down on the brake pedal as fast as I could to realign the proportion valve, but the light only stays off for a little bit. Any suggestions?

Push the button in on the front of the prop valve. Hold it in while you bleed again.

Re: Dash brake light won't go off

Factory used a piece of strap iron bent in a 90 and bolted to a bracket bolt.
I've seen guys use a big pair of channel locks too.
Or get the mother in law to hold the pin in. LOL!!

Reset the valve. Then pull the switch out of the top of the valve and use a pin or nail to keep the valve from moving while you bleed it.

There is a tool for holding the pin in. I bought this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ABS-Valve-Bl...-/330764972031

You should be able to pick one up at any auto parts store.

In the picture posted it looks to me like the pin is already depressed....

Re: Dash brake light won't go off

Based on the pic in post 3 I'd guess the pin isn't pushed out. The tool in the ink in post 7 looks like it slips into the groove in the end of the valve in post 3.
It looks like the valve is aftermarket so its hard to say. Do you get fluid ot front and rear bleeded scews when they're open and the pedal pushed?

Like franken said, the tool slides into the groove on the brass piece that sticks out on the end of the prop valve and the tab with the wing nut holds the pin in. When the valve is tripped the small pin will be sticking out about 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch. All prop valves may not be created equal so it may not work on some....
