Tach-Gauge Cluster Question
I am sure this question has been asked. I am looking into a new gauge clster assm. One catalog says you cant use there set up with a HEI dist. I asked another dealer at a swap meet and they said they have had no issues with this. Has anyone had an issue with this?

Re: Tach-Gauge Cluster Question
you can run HEI with stock tach gauge, but may need a connection wire - see this LMC excerpt http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/CB/full.aspx?Page=171

Re: Tach-Gauge Cluster Question
I have 1 in my &2 Blazer and no problems. I have 1 in my 70 CST and I do not know if it is just a short or what. It works OK then fluctuates and sometimes stops working all together. It may have a loose solder or something. I have not had problems with chevy trucks. I did have a 66 GTO II worked on and the Tach would not go beyond 2000 RPM

Re: Tach-Gauge Cluster Question
the connection wire I have. that goes on the HEI dist. the Classic Chevrolet catalog says there New gauge cluster is not recomened to be used with an HEI dist. But every other catalog does not mention this in there gauge add. That is why I was asking. Guess I should have been more clear on that.

Re: Tach-Gauge Cluster Question
sorry trackbar, I think I just misunderstood, your explanation was fine. I'm reasonably certain it will work, but I'd wait to see if you can get a few more confirmations. Have you called the vendor that stated it would not work to ask why? Now I'm curious to know.

Re: Tach-Gauge Cluster Question
have not called. But a another seller at a local swap meet said they put them in all the time and never had an issue with the tach.
