9 ft. box?
I am looking at buying a '49 that has a factory 9ft box on it. Should I try and sell it someone that would want it for the rare factor, or just plan to chop it up since I am building a 3100?
Just curious what you guys would think... |

The 9 foot box came on the 3800 series pickup (1 ton) like I have. For that you would be making a couple cuts as it is longer front and back. What I did with mine was took a 3/4 ton box and only shortened the front 9.25 inches I think. If you want a 54/55 short box I have one, could trade, I think it would make a cool trailer.

Sell the 9' box as they are rare & worth more than a short box to the right buyer.

I've got to agree with Dubds10 on that one, Sell the box to someone who is hunting for one rather than cut it up. Most of those 9 ft boxes got abused pretty bad as the people who bought them new bought them to work and work hard. Now guys are restoring those trucks and hunting for the boxes or are pulling flatbeds off to put one on a longer truck.
Or offer to trade it for a really nice box the length you want. Best of both worlds there.

w/ a 9 ft box they are not an everyday item ( as mentioned already, not many were equipped )
you can sell it to someone that is in need of one ... or even do a swap for it =0)
