According to one of the cable news channels, the 1967-72 Chevrolet C10 “Action Line” pickups might just be one of the most popular collector vehicles around at the moment and with good reason. They’re great-looking (opinions vary as to which year is the handsomest) and they’re modern enough to use on a regular basis while still retaining a classic look. Prices are climbing, so you might want to pick up one soon.

The "trend" has been going on for years now. In other words he has a couple of trucks that he has a ton of money into and is trying to drive up the prices

The Mega-Auctions have done their best to ruin a once great father-son/daughter garage hobby, moving prices beyond the reach of mere mortals. I'm fortunate to have a really good job, and still find it difficult to justify anymore.

I've had my truck since 1996. In the late 90's I started seeing more 67-72 trucks at car cruises/shows etc. It does seem to me that this "trend" has been going on for more than 10 years now anyway. During this period interest in these trucks has certainly fluctuated.

Truth is these trucks have arguably been the most popular truck ever produced by any manufacturer. Regardless of who drives up or down the prices on these trucks mine will always be in my garage, for me to enjoy outside of the elite collector crowd.

had one in 79 so not jumpin on the bandwagon, but I would say the 67 shortbox is the rockstar of them, and no, I don't have a 67.....yet

The sad truth is that working on any 40 year old vehicle is now considered a "luxury". For me working on and maintaining an old car/truck was a necessity as they were my only mode of transportation. Up until the last 10 years or so it was an economical alternative in comparison to buying a new vehicle. With all the car shows on TV and big dollar auctions prices have gone through the roof and quality has dropped considerably. For the new "poser" generation that is fine as the vehicles are just for show and are not actually used on a daily basis. For the few that still put real miles on their rides and actually use them as intended its a sad time indeed.

And the prices go sky high do to silly money paid at well known auctions...I used to have the 47-54 trucks and then those prices got jacked up. i also see the slowly rising prices on square body trucks.
Damn, in a few years the only thing affordable will be Dodges...

Yep, sad thing is all the Big Auction Houses drove prices on all Collator Vehicles. My C-20 Cheyenne Super I bought was at a reasonable price. True this isn't a short box half ton, but prices are going up on all these trucks. Check out any Craigslist or E-bay and check out the prices! I used to buy Chevelles dirt cheap compared to prices today. Parts cars 25-30 years ago, going for $5,000 plus at todays prices! It's too bad the Auction Houses and Speculator got involved.

sounds like someone just woke up. These trucks have been hot forever. I've been driving them forever and never heard of an "Action Line". I have oodles of GM brochures and sales lit with no mention of this name. GM introduced them as "The New Breed". In different years they used other names like "Movers", but no Action Line. I've also heard where someone decided to start calling these trucks "Glamour" line, series, whatever. That's another name created by some other late discoverer.

Yep, know what you mean. I have never heard of "Action Line" either! Someone is always coming up with some sort of new name. I have been involved with these trucks since 1968 when my Dad bought a brand new one that year, my first truck of this era was in 1985, when I bought a 1970 C-20. Great old trucks!!

bought mine in 75...yanked out the 6, put in a 350 with a muncie...discs out of a 75 suburban...installed a boom and it was my daily driver shop tow truck for 30 years...pulled off the boom, did a full resto...and now patina and old shop trucks are hot...i cant win

It's sad to see the prices go to the sky on these. Those of us that love them and will use them and not just throw shiny things and and show em til the fads over, cant afford them anymore. I bought mine 5 years ago for a good price and use it weekly as a work truck either going to work, pulling trailers or moving my family. I want to get one for my son to build with him for when he can drive but i cant find anything cheaper than $3500 thats filled with rust and need twice that to be reliable a driver.

They're only about 15 years too late with their "hot" news story!

Late 90's/early 2000's is when these babies caught fire. Before them during the 90's it was the 53-56 F100's and the 47-59 GM trucks.

I think the 67-72 F100's and 73-87 GM trucks are "next."

The 67-72 chevys have definitely gone up in price but it's not only these trucks. It's most 50's-70's vehicles and even some early 80's vehicles that are now priced like exotics. The auctions definitely do their part but I also see a lot of inflated values coming from those restoration "reality" shows. I even had one guy try and justify what he was asking for his truck by saying I could invest a couple thousand into it and triple my money just like the guys do on "fast and loud". I chuckled when he said it thinking he was joking but he was quite serious. Needless to say I walked away shaking my head.
The same phenomenon happened to buying storage lockers a auction. As soon as Auction Wars glamorized and dramatized it, it became the new "in" thing to do and prices skyrocketed.
