Improving the ride? Anyone use coil overs?
I have a Mustang 2 front end on my '59. It rides fair, kinda squeaks a bit. I guess if I could go back I would've put air bags on it to ride great but not sure I want to go back and do that now. I'm wondering if a good quality set of coil-overs would be worth the money? I'm looking for ride quality, not handling or a stiffer ride. Does anyone here have a set of RideTech or QA1 coil overs they can tell me more about?

Re: Improving the ride? Anyone use coil overs?
Jemo, I switch over to QA1's on my 50 pickup and I very happy with the outcome. You can check out what I did in my build thread starting on page 23 post #567. Any question let me know...Jim

Re: Improving the ride? Anyone use coil overs?
I ended up with a lighter Mustang ll coil spring and a Bilstine shock for the Mll stock arms and my ride has 65K and it rides and handles great

Re: Improving the ride? Anyone use coil overs?
I read Jimbo's post in his build thread and think I'm having the same issues. TCI tells me the coil springs in my truck are 375#. I also have a pinched upper ball joint boot. I called TCI and they said the pinch will go away as the coils start to settle but meanwhile I have a bad boot. I called QA1 and they suggested the same thing they did as Jimbo - a 700 lb spring. He was surprised the spring in the kit is 375#.

Re: Improving the ride? Anyone use coil overs?
Jeff, just a side note, my name is Jim. Jimbo is a friend of mine I built the 67 for. As a group we need some pics, so we can all agree on what design you have. Also what type of spring you currently have. A stock coil spring for MII, coil-over spring, long or short will all make a difference...Jim

Re: Improving the ride? Anyone use coil overs?
if your mustII was made for coil springs it would not be an easy conversion to coil overs
i have a fatman mustII that started squeaking after 5000 miles, at 12,000 miles the bushings were worn out fatman recommended no lube on the rubber bushing as they were graphite impregnated when i re-bushed my front end last year i used energy products grease and have no squeaks in 10,000 miles

Re: Improving the ride? Anyone use coil overs?
I have 50AD with MII front end and QA1 coil overs made for MII coil spring setup. Ride is really nice, and with a decent sway bar the handling is also good. I found vehicle weight info on Ride Tech web site plus recommended spring rates. I used that to pick springs, don't remember what they were and can't find receipt.
