Thinking about another rescue

This just came into the local salvage yard. I don't need it, but it is so cool looking and a real close kin to my C20. It was parked in a back yard for the last 15 years. Im thinking about another junkyard rescue.

That's not junkyard material.

The truck needs everything. The body is the best of it. It may even have those million dollar tow hooks on it.

Re: Thinking about another rescue

It sat so long that everything is locked up. It will not roll. Heck, it sat so long on the flat tire that the rim rusted away. Good thing is it a load CTS.

Re: Thinking about another rescue

What kind of title does it have? You have already asked that this time. I would love to find one, I think I want a two wheel drive though. I would use some of the LS Motor/Trans combo I have laying around for that.

Re: Thinking about another rescue

Orange Blazers are a secret passion. I have had an Orange '68 C/10 Stepside since 1973. I tried a '67 K/10 Suburban w/454 in '93. Too big. Hard to park, hard to make a u-turn even. Basket case now as it needs motor, trans/transfer case, and new rear end. I bought a '71 GMC Jimmy [in metallic medium blue]1995. Just right. I got a '72 K/5 tub, as parts in 2002. I'll have to look into getting a salvage title for it, so I'm not boned by the MVD like your last project. If it's a dead issue I'm only $200 into it, and have pulled some parts for the Jimmy already, anyway. But as a project, I fantasize a 292 L6, SM465/T221/ragtop, desert runner with it. It's Flint Michigan Baby Blue now, but I would be tempted to make it 516 'Omaha' Orange like my Stepside.
The beauty of these trucks is that most parts are interchangeable. The knowledge is cummulative. If you had a similar gripe on another truck once, you already know what it is and how to fix it.
Better luck with the Blazer. They are fun to drive.

Re: Thinking about another rescue

Not sure about the title yet, but since the junkyard didn't process it yet, it won't have a junk title. Most likely still has a Texas title. The truck seems to have more options than what is listed on the SPID.

It has a tach and power brakes that aren't listed.

They know I like it and have money, so I'm getting things like "these trucks go for $20,000"

I don't really know what it's worth, but they are damn rare around here. I figured it would cost me about $6000 to make everything perfect while keeping the patina.

Looks like it is worth saving. I am partial to orange Blazers. Just imagine cruising it around town.

Re: Thinking about another rescue

That touring suspension thing added off a late 70's or 80's car.

Beat 'em up on price because the expensive original buckets and console are gone. The spare tire carrier is a Bestop most likely.

The ones that go for $20K Run by themselves, are shiny, don't have broken fiberglass at the rear, and have nice interiors.
See if they'll trade for your other orange truck. LOL

Here's my Jimmy
