'70 rear bumper question & pics of truck
I picked up my truck on Sat and drove it home over the weekend. I received a bumper that apparently was originally on the truck.
Does anyone know if this is a GM bumper? It doesn't look like the step up bumpers in the '70 brochure. Basically, I don't plan on putting it back on the truck, so I either sell it or scrap it. If it's worth selling, I might have it blasted then powder coated. Any thoughts on this? Oh, and here's a couple lousy pics of my truck. I was originally purchased by the University of California and used on campus or for its agricultural program. I believe I am its 4th owner. 307, 4-speed. Very base model. HD suspension is one of the few options. Last edited by 69Tom; 07-27-2015 at 08:31 PM. |

Cheaper model trucks did not come with bumpers. It was probably purchased through the dealer or from an outside company. It is a heavy bumper but some people are looking for these to go back to the original look. It is personal preference.

Re: '70 rear bumper question & pics of truck
Thanks. Was there anything back there? I've seen a fill panel to go under the bed of the truck where the bumper might be. Mine does not have one, however.
So basically, it might be worth me getting it blasted and trying to sell it rather than just tossing it for scrap metal. |

It will sell if it is in good shape. There was not anything if the bumper was not ordered. A lot of guys put rear roll pans on. Most were fleetsides though. A factory sport bumper would be nice on it.

Nice truck and cool heavy duty bumper. It's a matter of preference and utility as far as which way you decide to go. I'm sure you can sell it.

Re: '70 rear bumper question & pics of truck
I bought one similar for $20 out in east mesa. I don't think I would spend too much time or money on it.
Nice truck by the way.

Thanks Wayne. That's the info I needed. Maybe I'll throw it on CL. Otherwise, it'll just head to the metal scrap yard. I've decided to go with the roll pan.

That's an aftermarket step bumper. Sometimes dealers put them on fleet trucks. I have a similar one [SAF-T-BUMPER] but w/o trailer ball hole. Stepside versions are rare.
Keeper.

Hmm. Well, maybe I'll make an honest effort to sell it then.

Re: '70 rear bumper question & pics of truck
I'd zoom on down to PHX and get it myself, if I didn't already have one on my stepside. LOL. Other trucks are blazers and a Sub. I have a fleetside one, gathering dust in back of my shop.

Now that is a bumper. Like Mr. T used to say; "Pity the Fool that runs into that".

Re: '70 rear bumper question & pics of truck
I have the same style on my fleet k20 except the side supports , good to see another. I don't think it'll bring big money but may help someone out tho.
