upgraded head light options

I've searched on here and I've been looking for some options on getting brighter head lights for my 86 k10 silverado with the quad 150 mm headlights.
I was wondering what other people have tried and what to stay away from.

this is my truck thanks for the help

Re: upgraded head light options

First thing is to put a headlight relay setup on it and get rid of all the wiring and connectors to and from the cab. You can get a setup here. About 20% of the way down the page: Automotive Headlight Brightener. $24.99. I have had people tell me it won't last, cheap relays, blah, blah, blah, but I got mine from here and it has been on there 3-1/2 years with no problems at all. You will have to get the correct one for your setup. Mine is the 1978 round headlights, so I got a different one. Kit came with everything, and was a five-minute install with no changes to stock wiring.

The other thing is to swap out sealed beams for the ones with the bulbs that plug in the back, and go to high-intensity bulbs. I got some Hella 7" rounds for mine and put Phillips Extreme Power bulbs in them. Love it.

Re: upgraded head light options

Buy a good brand headlight housing like hella and skip the euro cut and diamond cut style lights. And get the headlight harness with the relays that will give you useable low beams and bright high beams.Next step up is to use a led replacement bulb kit for the h4 lights or spend a lot and get full led head lights.

Re: upgraded head light options

I purchased my quad headlight buckets from Vision-X, to get the quality that they carry. I then upgraded my headlight bulbs to their higher wattage bulbs. I purchased a wiring harness to connect the lights directly to the battery for the best voltage. I had to do a little test and trial to get the bulbs to work like they are supposed to. Had to move some pins around int he light bulb plugs.

I can now see a long ways down the road and with the harness, there is ano heavy load on my truck's older wiring system.
