Need help with some gauges
Hey all, when I purchased my truck, it had an aftermarket oil pressure gauge, but I'm all about factory, and I want to hook up the original gauge. I'm not sure what exactly I have to do to get it hooked back up.
I'm also trying to get my Voltmeter gauge working. I tested the back of the cluster, and with the key on, the Voltmeter prongs on the back of the cluster get power, and have a good ground ( is it just a bad gauge? ). Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Need help with some gauges
Is the coupler connection plugged into the back of the cluster? It could be the circuit on the back of the cluster isn't getting good connection anymore.

Re: Need help with some gauges
Test the voltmeter on the bench. This indicator only requires 2 connections; battery voltage and a good ground. Hook it up to a temporary 12 VDC supply and if it's good, it should react.
Use an old-fashioned style battery charger (not one of the new automatic ones) or a charged up battery. Looking at the meter from the back, connect a jumper from the positive supply to the lower left pin and a jumper from the negative to the top middle pin. If it does indicate voltage correctly on the bench - but not when installed in the cluster and this is true: I tested the back of the cluster, and with the key on, the Voltmeter prongs on the back of the cluster get power, and have a good ground check that the contact between the clips and the copper conductors at the pc board is tight and clean. |
