I have a '97 2WD dually that I am currently fixing. The front end is straight up shot and wore out on this old farm truck and needs new everything. Well, I think it is a little on the tall side (not really but I love the lowered look) so, stupid question time, how do I lower it slightly while keeping the factory size wheels and tires and still be able to tow and haul? No bags or anything just factory but lower. Sorry but I know basically nothing about lowering a truck, growing up a farm boy we don't ever really see them. Any suggestions or ideas?

Re: Stupid Question
A 1" drop or 2" drop spring will be a good choice, and drop the truck just a little and allow the use of a stock tire. Might be able to get a 2" spring in there with keeping the stock tire as well.
Next, would be a 3" drop spindle, but might be a little low for your liking, and too low for a stock height tire. Were you wanting to drop the back a little too, or just the front? If just the front to get some rake, the 1" spring would be my recommendation. The 2" might be too much rake, if leaving the back as-is. We are dealers for BellTech, so let us know if we can help you out further. |

Re: Stupid Question
I have a 97 2wd crew cab Dually. I have it on a 5/7 drop. 2" springs in the front with 3" drop spindles and a flip kit in the rear with helper bags for towing. I tow my 10k toyhauler to the desert and have no problems. I think I have factory tire size (225/70-16) not 100% sure as I am at work right now. But I don't hit at all, and just a little rub on full turn and a decent bump on the inner fender.

Re: Stupid Question
Heres what I have put together so far, like I said I know nothing about lowering a truck so I would like some input from yall on the items I have selected, mostly will these work together with stock size tires? Also (stupid question) will just the front springs in the link below provide the 2" drop? Is it really that simple or am I missing something? Sorry for the dumb questions, I don't really know anything about lowering one of these. I appreciate any and all feedback, thanks!

Re: Stupid Question
If you plan on using it as a 1 ton, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with the drop shackles. Somebody correct me if they are using theirs. I tow regularly with mine, but I have a flip kit. The 2" springs will give you approximately that much and should be fine with stock tires.
