LMC Cigarette Lighter Bezel Problem..

I bought a cigarette lighter kit from LMC for my '71 GMC. Everything works fine, but I had to grind down the front lip on the bezel with my Dremel because it was too long and wouldn't fit the lighter element in it. While attempting to grind it down, my unsteady hand knicked the nice shiny metal multiple times and I'm not happy with the way it looks. Does anyone know of anywhere I can get a bezel that looks good and actually works? Thanks, guys

Re: LMC Cigarette Lighter Bezel Problem..

I purchased mine also from LMC. I had the same problem with mine. I had to grind the lip off So that the nut on the backside of the dash had enough room to screw back on. See if you can find one for a wrecking yard or call LMC back and tell them of your predicament and see if they will sell you just the bezel. if they do sell you another one and you have to do the same thing again, I suggest you put a lot of tape on the shiny part before you grind the lip back off. I hope this helps for you.

I bought the whole cigarette lighter kit from classicparts. No issues at all. I was surprised that it was even lighted.

Lighted? Now that's neat.

I bought an OEM lighter on here and a (super cool) member is sending me a lighter bezel free of charge. But a lighted unit would be nice.

Sound like you'd have been better off buying a used one and polish it up. Shiny like new is only 5 minutes of polishing away. Maybe the ones LKC sells were designed for MGs, Fords, or whatever else they "specialize" in. Have they started selling VW parts yet?
