Hey everybody! I'm trying to fix up a C10 i got!
i have a chevy 1972 pickup truck, everything on the truck is original, but i want to fix it up and upgrade the suspension and possibly the chassis.. But I'm just wondering if I should put new suspension on the original chassis, or should i get a new chassis? I plan on putting in a big block engine but don't know yet about the transmission other than I want it to be automatic.

If its all origonal then maybe this is one to preserve.
there are lots of other rigs out there that deserve to be built the way you dream of but there are only so many as in a finite number that are origonal, and fewer every year. |

That's a great point and I agree it would be a lot better for selling it if I built it back up to be original as the day it was introduced at first.. But the reason I am wondering if I should make core upgrades to the frame and suspension is because I want it to be able to take off like no other.. In a way, I want to make this truck handle like a corvette and take off quicker, and have a higher max speed than the original.. I don't plan to use this truck for hauling stuff in the back, strictly speed and joy riding

You can always keep the frame and just do suspension upgrades first before dismanteling a perfictly good truck, but the best way might be to start researching the other projects and builds to see what people are doing over in the main forum

Re: Hey everybody! I'm trying to fix up a C10 i got!
I have been looking at some of those forums and they are pretty interesting and definitely giving me a bunch of ideas.. But i am just trying to also gather up some more people's opinions so that I can recontact some people and maybe get some more info on certain things, or just hear what people have to say based on questions I have.. I figured it would help to get people to understand my project so that down the line they might be a bit more informed and if someone finds something then possibly might think bout my questions or whatever and let me know.. but I am for sure going to keep looking at similar posts because it really does help..

Re: Hey everybody! I'm trying to fix up a C10 i got!
I am trying to use the truck for a fast, fun, cruising weekend kinda truck.. I'm not trying to take it to car meets and show events, even though I will probably attend a lot of them and drive the truck on my way to and from them.. But my budget for the whole project is going to be $50,000 maybe.. I have some other side projects that might change my c10 budget, it just depends.. because I'm willing to invest if something is worth it to make my truck awesome.. I'm not trying to rebuild it original.. I want to make it something more modern, and better than the classic style and the way it drives even the it is a pretty solid smooth driven truck as is..
