How can I tell what ball joint my 2.5" drop spindle uses

I got my 67 C10 truck with 2.5' drop spindles

I do not know what brand they might be.
I do not know where they were purchased.

I would like to know how I can figure out what year ball joint they use

I am buying new A arms and they can come with whatever year Balljoint I need.

The only issue is I do not know which one to choose.
Is there a way to tell?

Thanks so much for any assistance you can give.

The brand and model number of the drop spindle will be stamped on it, get out your flashlight and find it and then call the manufacture and ask what ball joint you need.

Wondering if you found out anything. I ordered mine from CPP but they were Westin brand. The spindle setup is for 73-87 brake stuff but when I tried to use the 68 balljoints they would not seat all the way down on the top. Maybe I need 72-87 ball joints? And if so will they fit in the stock 68 a-arms? Anyone know?

Take your spindle to a local auto parts house and match it up. A lot of the spindle companies have the same casting numbers that span several years of trucks.

Re: How can I tell what ball joint my 2.5" drop spindle uses

Seafoam68, the drum brake and disk brake systems use different ball joint's, in 1967-1970 the standard braking system was drum and the ball joint stud is larger in diameter therefore if you try to install it into a 1971-72 disk brake spindle it won't seat.
I don't know about 73-85 spindles.

I have not got around to checking it out yet. I am on an issue with rear brakes grabbing on my 70 Jimmy. Maybe early next week. I will post all the info.

Thanks for all the info guys!
