Poor 1967 SWB step

This just came into the junkyard. Was in a barn fire with a bunch of old vehicles and tractors. Very sad to see everything completely destroyed.

Re: Poor 1967 SWB step

All rubber, glass, aluminum, pot metal, and plastics completely burned way. Even the springs collapsed.

I thought all 1967's has folding bench seats??? This one doesn't.

Re: Poor 1967 SWB step

Is the driver side rear fender any good? I could use one for my bedside mounted spare removal.

That might be the only salvageable piece on the truck.

Very sad to see the total loss of the barn and all the vintage cars and tractors. More heading to the junkyard soon.

Re: Poor 1967 SWB step

That was a hot fire there, fuel in the tank probably didn't help any. Won't the fender be distorted or warped from the heat?

Re: Poor 1967 SWB step

Yeah, it looks the the gas tank blew up. It is rounded like a ballon. It pushed and curved the bench seat frame, back of cab, and bed bulkhead.

Sure is a sad sight. Anytime sheet metal is burnt to that extreme paint will no longer stick to it Even with todays etch primers.

Really, there is a guy local to me that re-did a 69 GMC sprint that hade been in a fire. The back end was burnt every bit as bad as this truck. That was 35 years ago and it still looks great.

Re: Poor 1967 SWB step

The '67 is now in the pile by the crusher. It's fate has been set. The left rear fender is badly buckled along the whole top. As a metal shaper, I could fix it. But the average guy would pass on it since repop fenders are available.

Here is another fire victim.

1950 Chevy with shirts. Was blue and white. Now extra crispy.

Re: Poor 1967 SWB step

As sad as it is to see the vehicles burned up, the important thing is hopefully no one was hurt. Look at it this way, at least there no chance of rats nests inside the truck or the car...

Boy if that was closer to me I would be buying that dude and planting it in the front of my mountain property as "Yard Art". That would look cool about 12 into the earth with maybe some grape vines growing on it. Somebody out there should pay the salvage and save it.
Come on fellas, you know it would look cool.
