can i make a hood from a 67-68 fit on my 71 chevy?or is it just too long and wide?ive always loved the slanted hood

no you cant the hood is a different lenth (front to rear)

YA CAN'T PUT A 68 HOOD ON A 71 CLIP, BUT IF YOU PUT ON A 67-68 RAD. SUPPORT, FENDERS, & GRILL YOU CAN.

I know were your coming from that would look cool having a 68 hood on a 69-72 truck, you'd think that some auto body wizard would of done that by now, I'd love to see that, I heard some guys have customized the front of there 69-72 hood to have a sloped front, but haven't seen a pic of that

im thinking of shaving it down in the back and trying to figure out how im going to get it to mach up with my grill....ill keep you guys posted

It won't match up to the fenders either.... I wouldn't waste my time.... and ruin a 67-68 hood in the process. That's just my .02

There was a thread a few months back about this same thing, but without "search" it's hard to find. It has been done and looks very cool. Now if someone just happened to save the link, put 'er up!! If I remember, they modified the 69-72 hood to look like a 67-68 because of all the differences.

Man that's a lousy pic!

That hood looks good. At first reading this I thought "whatever...why not just use a 67-68 front clip and be done with it", but now you have me thinking. That looks a lot more streamlined.

Do you think they shaved the front to make it match the grill?

did you happen to reply to the thread? if you did, and if you stayed subscribed to the thread, you could look it up under your own account.

just go to the "usercp" page, and in the bottom right of the page, there is a little box that says: show threads from last day

The "V" shape of the hood is different for the 67-68 than the 69-72 also. A local customer of mine did one just like the truck pictured. What he told me was that he had to section the hood and lay the metal back, then make patches to fill the gaps. I remember someting about a post also where someone had taken pictures of the process and posted them. It seems to me that it was well over a year ago though. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com
