Sensing Wire

I am soon to do a 3 wire internally regulated alternator on my 68. 350 manual transmission with anmeter on dash.

Where is the best place to run the sensing wire for the alternator?

I really have no electronics right now but am looking towards the future. Recommendations on alternator and adapter? Looking towards CS.

Re: Sensing Wire

There is a guy who sells kits and wiring for our trucks and has literature and all supplies included. Name of the company is Mad Electrical out of California.
http://www.madelectrical.com/

He has individual kits for certain pieces or a whole kit for underhood wiring made simple and effective. I just installed one this weekend in my 68 and it is excellent. How to could not have been better.
I think you can pull up the literature.
Call him up and you actually talk to the owner. (and he likes to talk,,,,,,,,,,,,,,) but smart, really smart.
Gets rid of all the "long length" wiring and uses relays like a modern car.

Re: Sensing Wire

Excellent. I appreciate the advice. Does he recommend certain alternators if you talk with him?

Re: Sensing Wire

From the wire plug/connector at the alternator straight to the battery terminal on the alternator. Like this:

The lose wire as shown will go to the ignition switch. I believe I wired a resister inline to mimic the charge lamp that my 1952 truck does not have.

Re: Sensing Wire

Te-wired alternator and now is working and charging at 14.3 volts. Now I just need to see if I have any drains as I have been afraid to leave the battery hooked up because it always has left me with a dead battery.

After reading MAD's site I would highly recommend his products. I did most of my own electrical rework before being a member here. Eyeopening to say the least!

Liking this place. Do not forget to add some more grounds!
