Question help!! tailgate and rear bumper install.

I need a little help.
I recently picked up a rear bumper and a tailgate also ordered new set of brackets since my bumper was one of the big heavy duty ones bolted to the frame I needed the brackets to install the new sport bumper.
I tried installing the bumper with the new brakets and struggled a little since there was no instructions on how to install but I think I got the idea on how it needs to be but ran into an issue when trying to install the brackets on the outside of the frame because the bracket inside don't line up with the hole in the frame it hits the rear brace seems to me that the bed has to be higher like half inch higher. I noticed there's nothing between my bed and my frame I'm wondering if I'm missing something in there all the wood is out at this time so I would like to fix it at this time.

Also on the tailgate I'm wondering if there's any tricks on installing it I had an extra set of hands and tried installing one of the trunions installing that side of the tg and raising the other one installing the trunion on that side and lowering into place but I seem to be scratching the bed and didn't seem to be the right way of doing it .
Any one else with a different trick?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Happen to have any pics?
You may have to loosen the bolts on the bed to be able to adjust the TG install.

Re: help!! tailgate and rear bumper install.

I didnt take any pictures but I do know that the bed sides are welded to the rear brace if that helps.

Re: help!! tailgate and rear bumper install.

Thank you and no we never took the bed apart all we did was take it off the frame to do all the bodywork and all the frame work for the bags.
I tried the way he said on the thread but had no luck with it Maybe i should give it another try maybe this weekend...thanks again

Re: help!! tailgate and rear bumper install.

I put the tailgate on the pass side first and hooked one of the chains up in the lowered position. Then put the trunion in the hole and put it in from below and it went in easy. Installing it before the bumper gives you more room.

Re: help!! tailgate and rear bumper install.

I installed my gate myself. I installed the left mount, greased the trunion, then slipped the side of the gate in place. Balanced the gate (down) on a sawhorse, and placed the right mount on the trunion on the gate. Moved the sawhorse back and forth to get the right balance point to start the top bolt. Raised the gate, held in place with the catch, started the bottom bolt.
