Re: my ls swap died...

Did you check fuel pressure when you were getting lean codes?

A failing/weak pump or other restrictions can cause fuel pressure to go low. I believe 58 psi is the minimum to keep everything happy.

Re: my ls swap died...

Those are whole-bank codes, so ya its most likely that something in between the tank and rail died. Luckily, the culprits are only the pump, reg, or filter...and all are pretty simple fixes.

Do the easy stuff first like checking that the filters aren't clogged (or too small), and that nothing is kinked/damaged. Then, I'd take a look at the feed hose on the in-tank pump from the pump motor to the sender. Its only 3" long, and has been known to split...especially if the wrong hose got used by mistake.

As long as it wasn't also seeing a ton of heat, its most likely that your lean condition didn't damage anything...hopefully the ECM killed protected you from that. If you scan it now, how many codes do you get?

Unlplug the maf to force-fail. The ECM will idle you off of speed density and you should be able to see if there is an immediate change.

Current at the pump (pump even turn on? you should hear it prime, dpending on how much gas is in tank muffling it).

Re: my ls swap died...

I am sure the problem will be resolved, easily. i haven't seen many LSxs die unless the engine falls apart internally, like piston rings, cylinder heads, or a bad crankshaft. they usually run forever. most of us pass them on to the next owner, when we decide to sell them.

Re: my ls swap died...

We just rebuild em if they pop. Not much can really "grenade" on these unless your making 600+whp on stock internals. Con rod bolts, lifters, rocker bearings are the only things that ever really self destruct (unless the oil pump went, which isn't your problem on this one).

Re: my ls swap died...

Mine presented with those same symptoms one day. I pulled the vacuum hose off of the fuel pressure regulator and gas ran out of it. Replaced the regulator and she ran like a fine watch once again.

Re: my ls swap died...

Sounds like you're using the Corvette filter/regulator combo that fixes pressure at 58psi. You just need to verify that you are getting power to your fuel pump, and that it's pushing fuel. If it is, you likely need to replace your filter/regulator. At that point you can do a pressure test and see what it is.

If you're not getting power to the fuel pump its an electrical issue.

If you are getting power but no fuel, likely the fuel pump went bad (assuming ground is good).

Re: my ls swap died...

I'm still thinking that feed hose from the pump to the sender is popped. Soooooo common on in-tanks.

Re: my ls swap died...

truckdude239, take some personal time off from the job and work on your truck. if you need an excuse, tell your supervisor that a close member of your family is really, really sick. he/she is having some real complications with his/her mobility. this person really needs your assistance, and you want to be there, for them, during their time of need. truckdude239, don't go too much into the details. call your supervisor from your cell phone, and speak slow and sadly during the call. if you are a bad liar, rehearse this a couple of times, before you actually make the call. if you need to, look at a few episodes of "The walking dead". Imagine rick grimes just wrecked your truck, killing zombies. "yeah", that should do it. sad, sad, sad. a c10 destroyed for a movie prop. that would really make me sad.

Re: my ls swap died...

truckdude239, to most of us on the forum, our trucks are members of our families. My previous post was intended for laughter. It hurts me when my truck isn't running properly. If work is a priority, by all means, be there everyday that the doors are open. Every once in a while, I use personal leave from the job to work on my trucks. Its my therapy. Dr. C. says so (I see a therapist). I took a week off from work, to complete an engine swap on Choppy. It was a very memorable week. I loved every minute. the wife and kids were away, at school and work. It was just me and choppy. Choppy is the son, friend, and brother I never had. He is always there to lift my spirits, console me when I'm alone, and teaches me life's lessons. Vroom, Vroom. Damn I love my truck. I feel a burnout coming, when I get off from work.

Everything Dec is saying is coming from a good place, but I understand it won't work for your situation TruckDude.

Whether it be a "living" family, pets, a truck, stuffed plastic maniquins with realistic private parts or something like art...we all have that thing that matters most to us. I think what Dec is really saying tho, is that unless you bear down and make time, the problem won't be solving itself any time soon.

Most of the idea's we've thrown out could be knocked off the list in a few evenings, so don't convince yourself you don't (or can't) make time to fix it. Don't get discouraged, and just do down the list. We'll be here whenever you get around to it.

Re: my ls swap died...

I am in a similar pickle as Truckdude, I cant take time off for my truck hobby, would love to but cant. I work on my truck about once a month when I have a Saturday off of everything. I get a bunch done ( or this is what I tell myself) but just never enough time to do everything needed.

Most of my vacation time is spent ON vacation ( two weeks a year sometimes) and the rest of my time is spent helping my elderly parents and/or my kids. Oh and then there is work.....I gotta do that, right?

Br3w, your a funny guy! that was classic!
