86 brake booster

My 86 swb has manual disc brakes. I want to add a power booster but don't know what brake system to buy it for JB7 , JB5, JB3. Any help on this would be greatful, Thanks, wes

Re: 86 brake booster

JB3 is the lightest duty power system and uses the same rotors and calipers as your manual brake system.

Here's the '87 brake system release chart. '86 should be the same.

Note that the master cylinder is different between manual and power, as is the pedal ratio.

Re: 86 brake booster

I always use 1/2 ton Suburban booster and rear brakes.

Re: 86 brake booster

That would be a little bit of an upgrade in the foundation brakes, too, since it is a JB5 system (bigger front rotor, little bigger rear brake, and tandem booster as opposed to the JB3 single diaphram booster).

Re: 86 brake booster

Yes, I plan on doing the front when I order the drop spindles but even like it is it has great stopping power.
