Best Under Seat Sub For 67-72's

So I am looking at pulling the seat and floormat out of my truck to install a sub or two along with applying raptor liner to the floor for in cab heat and noise reduction and I was wondering what the best sub you guys are using that will fit under the seat and give a good thump. I already have a dual kenwood speaker under the dash and pioneer kick panel speakers but they just don't have quite enough bass for me and I would like to get as much sound as I can without affecting the trucks body by doing things like cutting the dash and doors. Thanks in advance!

This is what I used and it worked great. I put it under the seat on the center hump of my '63. Made a world of difference.

I'd suggest the kicker hideaway. kicker hideaway.
I install 40+ of these a year and rarely have 1 or 2 come back ever with complaints or failures.

Doesn't make up fake power claims either. Its a true clean 150W 8" sub.

Anyone made anything custom for these? I have buckets but I also have two 12" subs that someone gave me, and I hadn't thought about putting them under the seats until now. I will have to look into it more...

Unless you've got specific shallow mount 12's (they come around ~5 inch mount depth, you're going to have a hard time.

Another issue you're going to run into is getting a box with enough volume for a 12 efficiently.

Then room for the amplifier.

Honestly sounds like some fun fiberglass time.

I would probably just mount one sub under the passenger seat (a lot more room under there) and put the amp under the driver seat. It would be quite the project.

Re: Best Under Seat Sub For 67-72's

Honestly, there isn't a "good" under the seat subwoofer, only acceptable sounding. Quality construction though, can be good or even excellent. The reason is, bass frequencies travel slower than higher frequencies. By the time the frequencies make it out from under the seat (where they've bounced around many times before reaching your ear), you are hearing a sound that is actually delayed from what is coming from your other speakers. With that in mind, it would defeat the purpose of spending high dollar on a sound that will be drastically manipulated before reaching your ears.

My experience comes from playing bass for over 15 years, being a product specialist at Guitar Center years ago in the bass department, and being endorsed by Gallien Krueger amplification when I was in a touring band.

Hopefully that helps some. Best of luck.

Well, had some free time so threw one under the seat and it is not going to fit. I guess I'll just have to come up with yet another use for these. An 8" would probably fit neatly under there in a nice little box though.

Re: Best Under Seat Sub For 67-72's

Hmm. I've never heard it put that way.

Most subs are in a trunk, which must pass through rear seats, and I suppose one could claim your own seat to hear the bass.

I think it's more about feeling it in a car situation.
Not so much under the seat but behind the seat 8 inch subs in a truck are quite nice.
