I was working on my truck yesterday and noticed that i can put my hands on the door glass and push down and the window will go down. Basically i can move the window up and down without using the handle. I don't know anything about those mechanisms. Could it just be the regulator needs replacing or is there another part that might need to be replaced?

Does the handle turn when you do that? Does it roll up and down OK with the window crank.... The regulator is the only thing that controls the up & down movement.

The crank moves. I had a couple beers, put one hand on the inside of the glass and one on the outside. I can make that window crank spin really fast! I was having fun. Wife asked wtf i was doing. Killed my beer buzz, hadda stop.

Replace the regulator

As long as it doesn't fall down when you are driving it will be fine.
