1967 GMC 1 ton dually
I have been wanting an older truck for a long time. I wanted something a little heavier duty. Well I think I found it. The 305 V6 runs great, but the brakes don't do much. I will be making a plan/parts list on Saturday to start rebuilding those giant drum brakes. I am also looking forward to being part of this forum.

I have had little luck researching a CM3600. Anyone know the details?

Re: 1967 GMC 1 ton dually
I upgraded my 67 C30 to hydroboost front discs, and I would do it again every time. I bought a junked out 1975 C30 dually and stole the hydroboost system from it.

Awesome project! What's up with the spare glove box lid with speaker?

That is the original glove box with all the numbers and options. Apparently someone cut a hole and stuck a speaker in it at one point in time.

Definitely not trying to hijack your thread but I wanted to show you a pic of my 68 1 ton I am building.
I have a build thread call Meet Homer. Once again I apologize, just wanted to share.

Re: 1967 GMC 1 ton dually
Rear brake inspection. Pretty good lip on the drum but otherwise things aren't too bad. Definitely need wheel cylinders. Anyone see anything I should be worried about?

Re: 1967 GMC 1 ton dually
You got heavy duty!! Nice truck. Welcome aboard. Looks like a good cleaning and brake rebuild to me. How do the bearing stubs look? I locked a bearing on a full floater axle, never could get it to seal, ended up replacing with a used 14 bolt. What rearend do you have there?

Re: 1967 GMC 1 ton dually
It is an H072 with a 4.57 ratio. The axle/bearing stub looks good though am a little concerned with the drums. Left one has a pretty good lip cut into it. I haven't looked at the other side yet.

Re: 1967 GMC 1 ton dually
I don't know about that old of drums but the newer ones have a minimum dimension cast into the drum. Way cool problems, nice truck.

Re: 1967 GMC 1 ton dually
After a little reading, am I correct in assuming I can use a regular 80w90 gear lube for both the np435 Trans and the h072 rear end?

Re: 1967 GMC 1 ton dually
I cant remember who I bought them from, but some outfit in California was where I bought 2 new, made in USA drums for my HO72. I pull a Horse Trailer with my C20 4x4 and I can say the brakes in this truck are absolutely outstanding. Manual brakes that respond like power brakes, wish the brakes on my K5 Blazer were this good..lol

Re: 1967 GMC 1 ton dually
Torpex, I think Centrix has them. I am not too concerned as I have some spares that came with the truck.

Re: 1967 GMC 1 ton dually
Should I replace or rebuild the wheel cylinders? Do they rebuild well or is it just better to replace?

Re: 1967 GMC 1 ton dually
If the bore is pitted I would replace them. If not clean them up with a hone and rebuild. Make sure to get all the old fluid out of the system.
