'63 c-10 craiglist find

I tweaked the title of my thread so as not to get mixed up with Jonz. His was a far better deal anyway, but here's the ad:

Re: '63 c-10 craiglist find

I could see a 60-66 cab corner in the background and shot him a text to see if it was for sale also. He replied with "make offer" and sent me back some pics. I offered $500 and the deal was done. Should have probably started lower, but such is life.

Re: '63 c-10 craiglist find

A nice uncracked and unchipped wrap around windshield:

I've not seen these coil over shocks before, are they aftermarket or something specific to '63 and earlier? This is my first knee knocker truck all my others have been 4-5-6

Looks like factory helper springs:

Good cab roof

Re: '63 c-10 craiglist find

get some easy off oven cleaner (not the fume free!) and do a small section at a time and you can get all that black primer off lickity split!

those coil over shocks were a popular aftermarket item in the late 60s early 70s, I have bought a couple trucks with them installed.

great start!

Re: '63 c-10 craiglist find

Thanks for the comments. It's got title issues that I probably am not going to want to pay to resolve so it will most likely end up getting parted and/or shoved behind my shop in case I need something. I sort of had that in mind anyway when I bought it I was looking for a spare rear end for my 64.

Re: '63 c-10 craiglist find

I knew it going in I just didn't know what it would take to clear it up. Looks like its going to be a bit over $200 and it just isn't worth it. I bought it for a parts truck anyway, I've got room to keep it, and it costs me nothing to let it sit.

nice find, looks like 64-66 custom cab trim, did it have side trim on the drivers side?

Re: '63 c-10 craiglist find

It did have at one time, the holes are there. I thought that was the 64-66 trim also but I wasn't positive what the '63 trim would look like.

62-66 used the same side trim

here is the 60-63 cab trim, then the 64-66

Re: '63 c-10 craiglist find

I definitely have the 64-66 trim. Do you think any late '63s would have gotten this though? Doesn't look like it's ever been off, still attached with pan head flat screws.

Re: '63 c-10 craiglist find

Hi and thank you in advance for fielding this. I am looking for what I believe is called a Parking brake cable clamp. It's bolted (two bolts) to the rear brake back plate were the parking brake cable goes into the back plate. I would be interested in the mires on the 63 too. thanks.

Re: '63 c-10 craiglist find

Good parts on the truck. The hood looks pretty rust-free and solid.

You can still get those coil-over shocks--I put them on my lowered Suburban, because I'd put enough in the back to bottom it on the stops.

Those factory helper leaf springs are waaaay cool. It took me a long time, but I finally found a nice set for the Suburban, and when I rebuild the truck, they'll go on. I've got an open trailer that I'll tow my race car with, and having the helper springs will be perfect.

If the doors are good, there's your money back.

Re: '63 c-10 craiglist find

Looks like a nice truck...it's funny to me when you say you have title issues. As screwed up as this state of NY is that is one thing that is very easy. You walk into DMV with two tracings of the Vin # and they issue a registration that puts it in your name. Then a couple months later after they research the Vin they issue a transferable registration...

Hey Brad - I got an email that you replied to my post but can't seem to find your reply. I asked about a parking cable clamp that is bolted to the rear brake backing plate. thanks again - Rob

Re: '63 c-10 craiglist find

I'd say you did alright there's enough parts on there that are still good... those type of mirrors can fetch a fair price these days.. And no I'm not looking to buy anything.. just to be clear..it never hurts to have spare parts..

Lots of good parts there. I actually dig the 100 layer paint job.

$200 doesn't seem like all that much to get a title in your name.
