Dual snorkel....

I finished my dual snorkel air cleaner. Fits great and gives it a little muscle car look.

Looks good. What year models/applications air cleaners did you use? Bet they are scarce. Keep up the good work.

Re: Dual snorkel....

Its a 71 c10 air cleaner that was in a truck that burned. Found a snorkel that matched clocked and cut a hole and welded up. Also welded up all the heat riser junk on the snorkels. A little time and a can of paint was about all it cost.

Here is a dual snorkel air cleaner that the previous owner made. He used 2 chrome exhaust tips. I took it off for a while, then decided that I liked it because nobody else had one like it.

Re: Dual snorkel....

What does it actually do for the engine besides create a restriction? Don't get me wrong, these and batwings and such look neat...but it still looks like they all suck in the same hot engine air. Do these get hooked up to a duct like on some of the Olds motors?

The purpose of the snorkels is noise reduction. Two snorkels will flow twice as much air to the carb as one.

Re: Dual snorkel....

Part of the reason for the dual snorkel was looks but The oil breather vapors dirtied up my open filter so kinda had fixed that to...

Re: Dual snorkel....

Okay Scottco, you inspired me. Here's the one I made this weekend past. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, but I had to try since everything was half off at my local wrecking yard over the labor day weekend and housings were plentiful.
