Tranny Question
Did all the 67 through 72 C10's use the same 3 speed manual tranny? I know they used both Muncie and Saginaw but were they all interchangeable with no modifications.
I have a 71 with the 250 CI and the shifter being changed to the floor. Today the transmission started making a grinding noise when the clutch is released and in neutral. The noise goes away when clutch is depressed. The throwout bearing seems to be fine and the noise appears to be coming from the top of the tranny. When making the noise the floor shifter has a vibration in it. It also seems to be getting harder to put into 1st gear. I guess the choice is to get a replacement or rebuild this one. |

Re: Tranny Question

Re: Tranny Question
I checked the oil this morning and it is full and clean. I did look and based on the number of bolts in the side cover (7), it should be a Saginaw.

Re: Tranny Question
I may have jumped the gun because it appears that some Muncie's also have a 7 bolt cover.

Re: Tranny Question
would a Saginaw 4 speed tranny bolt up or would the mounts and or bell housing need to be changed?
