any advice on putting a powerglide in a lwb c10
any advice on putting a powerglide in a lwb 82 c10...
Im building a drag truck, 12.5.1 468, and today i got a good looking powerglide for basically nothing.the truck was originally th350 9'' tailshaft, one piece driveshaft. any advice would be much appreciated

How much does the truck weigh,my trans guy told me not to use a glide if the truck was over 3000 lbs,i went with the t350 behind a 427 bbc

i haven't weighed the truck yet i'm still doing weight reduction but time its done it will weigh more then 3000lbs, and i thought the PG and th350 had the crossmember in the same place?

It's just a whole lot easier to remove and install the transmission if the crossmember is a bolt-in type for servicing in a drag racing application.

Typically in a drag application, the heavy vehicle will 60' better with a 3 speed transmission and a deeper rear gear to offset this. I've always setup anything over 3,200 lbs with a 3speed and 'glides for anything lighter.

Yes, the PowerGlide and the TH350 have the crossmember mount in the same location:
 Driveshaft length will likely need to be modified, though. |

Don't know what mod's either of you transmissions have, or had. But a stock glide and stock TH350 short shaft transmission will interchange without altering drive shaft. Shift shaft linkage is different.....yoke is same, also

what is your opinion on th350 behind a nitrous 468?
and i'm not saying a stock th350

although not by much the 350 is lighter than the 400,and in my case when it was built it was built strong enough to do it,the 350 gears worked better with my combo than the 400 gears would have,i am happy with it

I would go 400 or a high dollar turbo 350. In mild form the 400 is much stronger!

depending on how much it will cost to have a drive shaft cut i may just run the powerglide till it breaks and then buy a th400, i'm buying a home so money is tight right now
