67 -72 frame and running gear
Well it's a start, I purchased a very nice rust free SWB frame and running gear. Also brought home a low mileage 6.2 L92.
Last weekend stripped all the brackets off the frame getting it ready for sand blasting. So the hunt is on for a rust free cab and front sheet metal. I'm a big time LS fan with a number LS swaps under my belt. Thanks in advance for everyone's help. |

Thanks I am really looking forward to the build.
I have looked at your cab more than once in the parts for sale section. It looks very nice. My biggest stumbling block is that the cab does not come with a title. I'm in MN and MN is very tough on no title vehicles. At minimum it would have to be bonded for at least three years. That it was bonded stays with the title forever. Not saying it can't be done it just a lot of hassle dealing with the state. Second is just getting it to MN. Unless I drive down and pick it up it would need to be crated to protect it and then truck freight. No question the cab is very nice and is tempting. I totally understand the craftsmanship it takes to do that nice of metal work. Regards, |

Hello everyone. I'm back!
My 68 has been a great project. For the last two years I've be running a built LS1 and a T56 Magnum. I am currently converting to a built 4L60E. I'm getting old. Shifting was fun for a while. I will post some pics of the current build in the next few days. |

Welcome back. I was kind of surprised to see a post from someone nearby. Sounds like a great project. I've got a '72 K10 that I'm kicking around attempting to LS-swap.

Beautiful job! Where the heck are you hiding all the harness wiring for the LS? I just got mine out of the box to start wiring and I'm not sure where I can route it all!

To Macstaples just let me know if you need help with the LS swap. I've done a number of them.
To Rowdy11. I mounted the ecm and relays behind the glove box. Used a "stock" ecm holder and made a couple of brackets to hold them. Had to mod the glove box liner to reduce its depth. Still have 3/4 of a glove box. My truck has the stock heater box so I routed the LS engine harness over the top of the interior heater box and out thru firewall as low as possible. If you look closely at the pic you can just see the top of grommet just over the back of the right side plastic coil cover. If you are standing in front of the truck with the hood open you can see a small part of the harness. I did same with the chassis wiring harness so you can't see any wires from to back. |

Wow GR8 JOB! I can't wait to start my swap. Would a 6 speed be much more difficult than the 4L60E?

The truck was a stick to begin with so I had the pedals. I used Captain Fab linkage and master cylinder kit. It worked great.
I would say stick or auto are about the same amount of work. With a T56 you need a high hump trans cover for clearance. The auto you have run trans cooler lines and mount a cooler. |
