AM FM Radio repro
I would rather keep my truck looking stock. But AM radio is real bad.
This radio looks decent but a bit pricey. I know I will need new speakers since it is 4 ohm. Will this just plug in or do I need to splice in a new harness plug? http://www.classiccarstereos.com/pro...FQ2QHwodhesPjg Any input would be appreciated. |

Re: AM FM Radio repro
That's very pricey. I know a good guy in New Jersey who will convert your current stock AM to AM/FM with an Aux jack for an ipod, satellite radio for around $275. That's what I did. His email is: jc68gto4@verizon.net

Re: AM FM Radio repro
I have one. If I can wire it in, you surely can. It's a pretty high quality piece , fwiw.

Re: AM FM Radio repro
You can send out your original radio and have it converted.

Re: AM FM Radio repro
I can vouch for the CCS unit. I have one and it is solid, well built, and perfect. I don't know if they're repro or built in original chassis, but they look near perfect on the outside.

Re: AM FM Radio repro
Dave was this a plug and play deal or did you need to splice in a new plug? Any special cutting needed?
Also seems the best way to get at radio is through the glove box? I have removed radios before but not from a truck. Any help would be appreciated. I would have sent a PM but your box is full. |

Re: AM FM Radio repro
If you have an AC truck the best way at the radio is to pay someone to do it :-)
The connector is non-standard, but its power, light, ground, and speakers. So I made a Packard connector interface like it was 1950, but you could just wire it in.

Re: AM FM Radio repro
Yes. But really it's just a switched power, constant power, ground and speaker wires.

Re: AM FM Radio repro
Agree. Not direct plug and play but simple. I have the CCS radio, I like it but it is pricey. Wish the actual black push buttons looked closer to stock but best looking aftermarket.

Re: AM FM Radio repro
I thought the push buttons looked a bit different
I cannot find a picture of an original AM FM truck radio from 1971-72. Anyone have a photo they can post? Must be a bit rare? |
