Rochester B carb

Is there a better alternative to the Rochester B carb. I had it rebuilt but after the initial cold start in the morning I have trouble restarting it. The manual choke will close fully, but will not open back up in a smooth fashion. I'd like to improve overall performance so I have no problem converting to a 2 bbl if necessary. I checked in at Langdons Stovebolt but he only offers conversion kits for Carter to Weber carbs. Thanks in advance. Paul

Difficult to tell in your text, but the manual choke should stay in whatever position you put it in. When I start mine, when cold, I use full choke and as soon as it fires, I move it to about half or until it runs smooth. On hot starts, I just use about 1/4 choke or none at all. These model B's are pretty bullet proof if rebuilt correctly.
