Replacement gas tank installation

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has recently installed a replacement gas tank. I got a 21 gal poly tank from MTS and a set of straps, but I can't figure out how to get the straps around the tank. In fact, I'm having a hard time figuring out which way they go - brackets facing out or in. I tossed the old tank a while back so I can't refer to it for tips. I'm planning to resort to using hangar bolts on both ends of the straps unless I can figure something else out. Are there instructions that anyone knows about?

On both sides of the tank their will be two holes for the J-bolts that attach to the straps which hold up the tank. When I replaced my tank I just reused the old straps as they were still good. Here are pictures of the driver and passenger side.

Mine are the same as rocknss'. I bought the 21 gal. steel tank for my '67 Panel.

Thanks. The new straps don't have the J-bolt on the end - they have flange brackets on both ends. I think I can re-use the old J-bolts on one side though.

I have another problem - the fuel fill intake on the tank has a 1 1/4" O.D. but the filler neck on my Burb has a 1 1/2" OD. I'm having trouble finding a reducer or a fitting that fits. Anybody have any suggestions?

I used a 2" long piece of 1 1/4" tubing inside the 1 1/2" tube. It worked like a reducer bushing.
