Burb hatch - worth restoring?
Hey guys. I'm evaluating the condition of my truck to see if it's worth restoring to "nice" condition. The rear hatch is my biggest concern. Given the attached pics, do you think it's worth fixing? How hard is such a repair?
Thanks! -Jamie |

Re: Burb hatch - worth restoring?
Jfalesi...you can make patch panels or find a solid replacement if you have really bad rust under the paint. You can never tell for sure until the paint is removed.
How does the rest of the Burb look? |

I think that hatch looks great but needs to be preserved to prevent more deterioration.
Has anyone ever done a thread on hatch repair? I know I'll have to work on mine within the year. It has developed a crack neat the hinge and bubbles are popping up under the paint.

Re: Burb hatch - worth restoring?
I've seen guys ask the same question here with a lot worse rust problems.
I think you have a hatch worth saving for sure.

Re: Burb hatch - worth restoring?
The rest of it is pretty nice. Previous owner had some body and paint work done, including rocker panels on the driver's side. Passenger side needs to be done, as you can see. The only other areas that look bad are the one spot above the windshield in the pic and some rust on the underside of the floor panels, on both sides up near the front wheel wells. A bit afraid of what lies beneath the weather striping, though.
