81 Outside Door Handles Help!!!!!!!!

Apparently my spring broke on the passenger side ( i think) holding the button in place. My issue is I cant really tell how its supposed to be together to know if i have a part that broke or not. I took the panel off the "good" side to see how the handle works but i really cant see anything and i cant find any video or how these are installed. So at the moment i am at the mercy of this fantastic site for some guidance on how to fix it. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Danny0 - I appreciate the link. Ive watched most of his videos from that guy but he seems to skip right over how the outside door handle works. I know how to remove the handle but I am trying not to remove the one that is working but instead get an idea of how its hooked up to know what is actually wrong with my other door.

I removed the handle on the one that is not functioning right but I cant tell exactly what might have broken on it or if it just came apart but I cant find a pic of how its supposed to look while together.

Can you post a pic of what you have?

I just put my driver's door back together a couple months ago. I might (or some of the other guys might) be able to tell what's wrong just by looking.

I have the door handle itself on the truck because we have had rain but here are the parts I do have

I just finished painting/refurbing mine and they're still off the truck. If these pics don't help, tell me what angle you need to see.

Look at the pictures on here as well. you can full screen them and zoom in. Where is the metal part that pulls on the metal bar? Maybe there's something wrong with that part.

Does your spring look like mine? Do the ends just stay straight? If so I think I understand how this works and cant thank you enough for the pics.

No problem, I just happened to have mine off. Yeah, from what I can see the springs look the same.

Also, if you look in the background of the 3rd pic I posted, you can see the spring for the other door handle loose and laying on the bench. Just to better compare it to yours.

Great stuff! I think I have all the parts it just seems that the pin hold the spring in worked its way out. So once it stop raining I will try my hand at fixing it.

Again I appreciate all the help and pictures for us slow fellas!
