Is this a dent?

I am getting my 68 chevy truck ready for media blasting and noticed an interesting feature on the front of the hood. Is this a dent right at the peak (just below the where the "R" mounts) or is this factory? It just looks odd. Anyone have a picture of theirs? I want to confirm before I try and straighten it out. Thanks for the help.

Re: Is this a dent?

It is indeed a dent. it also looks like you may have one to the left of that as well [by the letters towards the pass side] but that may be a shadow. That is def a dent on the peak at the start of the spear. If you have access to a stud puller it will help take care of that right away. If you take your time with that stud gun and use a STUD LEVER [made by a company called Steck] is an awesome tool to go along with the stud gun and I consider it a vital piece of dent removal equipment. If you work slowly like I was saying before you might be able to pull the dent and then prime it out. I have pulled dents before that required no filler to finish them only high build primer. Jim

There's more than one dent there, Bunky. The 67-68 hood has a peak below the ridge running down the hood centerline which goes all the way to the edge. Yours does not. Also, there is a crease right at the "V" in your hood.

Re: Is this a dent?

Thanks for the help guys. I was able to use a stud gun to work things back up and re-establish the peaked edge.

Those stud guns are handy as shirt pockets. Even more so if you buy a couple of the extras like the shoot suit and the stud lever. The stud lever is one of my favorite tools in my shop.
