New NAPA Truck
I went to the local NAPA store the other day for about 5.00 with of stuff and this was at the check out counter. Anyone else snag one of these yet. Great colors and I love the granny 4 speed on the floor. This will be a nice companion to my black 68 NAPA truck. The color shows a lot nicer in natural light.

Re: New NAPA Truck
No, but thanks for the heads-up! I also have the black one and never knew that was being offered when I found it. My store never had any displayed, but one day I was at a friend's when I ride along to his Napa store. While hang around waiting in the store I spotted it on the top of a shelf. I think it was from the prior year at that time. I'm going straight in today and inquiring, to make sure I get one.
First Gear does great replicas. They are the ones who took reasonably priced die-cast trucks to a new level. There were the Ertl banks, with off-springs popping up, and Franklin & Danbury Mint had begun making high priced automotive replicas. 1st gear came out with something in the middle for far less money. I've been looking (off & on) for other '67 Chevy p/u replicas by them, but they sure are few and far between. I want the plain ones, not other promos. I know there was a yellow one and a red one. I like having the Napa ones since they actually use pickups to deliver parts and they are my local preference for parts

Re: New NAPA Truck
What surprises me about this NAPA truck is that no one from the USA has posted one up. You guys in the USA get a lot of diecast from all manufacturers that we never get here. I have bought a lot of diecast from eBay over the years. Speaking of the non-promo 67-72 First Gears they occasionally come up on eBay but the asking prices are usually well over 100.00. First Gear also makes some 1:34th and 1:25th very detailed 1960's Mack B61 Tow Trucks with different names on them, and again I've bought a few from eBay.

Re: New NAPA Truck
I think I recall you showing some other promo that was Canada-only, from a company that also operates in the US. So, you are saying this one is?
I was buying that First Gear stuff when it first came out. I bought a lot of COE GMC dry goods vans, tank trucks, stake body, and wreckers. I also got some B Mack semis. I sold some off. The only B Mack I still have is the Mack Trucks factory parts semi (dark green w/bulldog on trailer. I had some IH R-models with same bodies on them as the GMC

Re: New NAPA Truck
I don't know if tis latest NAPA truck is Canada only but I have my doubts. The biggest reason I doubt it is because the box it cam in has only English and anything for Canada has English and French on it.

Re: New NAPA Truck
Here is one that has been on eBay for while now, like 6 weeks. It says make offer and I di of 65.00 but was turned down with no counter offer. You don't see this one for sale very often.

I didn't get into town today. I wonder if anything about it is on their website.

Re: New NAPA Truck
I asked and my guys didn't know about it. I find, at least at my store, this promo stuff is seen as a p.i.a. to counter people, something extra the "have to" do. When it comes to looking up parts they are great. But don't ask anything extra.
I found a promo truck listed on the NAPA site, but no picture or description. It's just over $30 dollars, which makes me think it's the 1st Gear. I have to get back to this and find out. I kinda forgot about it

Re: New NAPA Truck
I tried to order one online thru NAPA delivered to my local store , my local store then called me and told me it was not available even though online showed it in stock. I think they did not want to deal with it. Another NAPA store told me they could only get them a case at a time and that they did not sell well and that they got stuck with the last ones so they no longer sell them.

Re: New NAPA Truck
Good plan Tim. You could probably sell off the rest of the case to board members.

Re: New NAPA Truck
As a former Napa employee, I saw that all of the time! Even I would try and get my hands on a diecast, and one of the other stores wouid always hold on to them and hoard them!

Re: New NAPA Truck
I forgot about following through on this. Haven't been in my local shop. I'll make a point to drop in and inquire. If it takes buying a case I guess now would be the time to put the order in. If I get a case I'd be tempted to dismantle one to give a factory stock paint job

Re: New NAPA Truck
I checked the local NAPA stores today. None in stock locally. He said there were 25 in stock at a Dallas store. $45.00 each. I'm not going to get into these, but maybe someone in Dallas can check them out; and help members get them.
I didn't get the # of the store that had them.

Re: New NAPA Truck
Sounds like Dallas is doing some price gouging. If you Google NAPA toy truck promo you get the NAPA site that lists one with part# PRO TTRUCK 15 for $40, but no picture or description.
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...sMUJ4we3dZQ0bg On the side it says online purchase not available with "why" highlighted. Scroll over that and the reason is item contains hazardous materials and can't be shipped. You can have your store order it in from distribution center. Huh, I guess they just give you a generic reason rather than the real reason. I can only assume this is that truck. But, that's a number to have them check on. I just have to get a chance to stop by. They won't know either and I guess the only way to find out is have them order one in, if they don't have any on the way. Probably will turn out you have to order a case. I don't see how they can stick you with it if it turns out to be something different when there is no picture or description other than toy truck promo. There is another truck but it's a 'mud racer' and priced too cheap to be a 1st Gear These ain't no Hot Wheels. They may seem pricey but these are limited production and only available for purchase this way. This promo could have come and gone w/o any of us knowing about it. How many knew about the black one I just happened to luck into one day? For investment these are a good buy, for reason stated above as well as now that Danbury and Franklin mints are gone, 1st Gear is up there in quality detailed replicas. I only want one because I've gotten into having a collection of anything and everything 67-72 GM Truck. I'm passing on this model in other promos. What I really want is a non-promo version. But, these NAPAs have realistic markings and since I have the other, I want this one to compliment it. I also have the Ertl 1/64th NAPA promo from years before

Re: New NAPA Truck
Im still trying to find one of these but Im trying a different approach as calling and e mailing NAPA has gotten me no where. A friend of mine from Ohio came down saturday to pick up a Chevelle wagon I assisted him with buying and he works for O'Reileys but has a friend who works for NAPA and he is going to see if they have some in their warehouse .Wish me luck.
