Napa Search Wizard Help Needed
My 68 K10 SWB has a glass pack muffler installed and I want to find a replacement without having to modify the existing exhaust system--really want to quiet this thing down. Overall length (from end of inlet/outlet pipes) of the glass pack is 20" so I'm trying to find a muffler with no offset and 2" inlet/outlet with this dimension or a max perhaps of 24". Just looking for something stockish and quiet..... eventually I'll probably go dual exhaust but for now I'm just about getting it on the road...
I have surfed Napa and haven't found anything as yet.... Thanks, Dave. |

Re: Napa Search Wizard Help Needed
early 70s ford trucks came with 460's and single exuaste mufflers. I bought two of them and installed them on a 63 c 20 with a 327. shaped like a glass pack but bigger in length and diameter. some trimming was required. but it worked great and very quiet.

Re: Napa Search Wizard Help Needed
I did adapter from 2 inch up to 3 inch befor the muffler. I had a shop copy my 2 inch tail pipe in three inch out the back. flex pipe will work until you get that done. becaus the muffler is longer it puts the tail pipe further out. the factory tail pipe if you have one gives the bender a rough idea what routing works but the flex pipe is good to actualy rout the pipes. I dont like the tail pipe comming out the sides behind the rear wheel because of noise issues on long trips but if you run a horse trailer you dont want exaste fumes and any noise going directly out the rear. Maybe not a consideration but for me thats why I went with a very quiet system. less noise all around especialy on long trips.

Re: Napa Search Wizard Help Needed
Thanks, yeah I went to Napa and we searched and searched and found nothing applicable for 2" and no offset. I will be doing what you're talking about in some form to make this work because it seems like 2.25" has more options. I would like to just put a whole new system on but funds aren't there right now with so many other projects going on.....
